Appanam bosi rami
“Appāṇaṁ vosirāmi” (often pronounced “Appanam bosi rami / vosirami”) is a line from the Karemi Bhante / Samayik sutra.
Full line in Prakrit: > Tassa bhante! paḍikkamāmi, nindāmi, garihāmi, appāṇaṁ vosirāmi.
Simple meaning:
- Tassa bhante paḍikkamāmi – O Revered One! For those faults I repent.
- Nindāmi – I condemn those faults.
- Garihāmi – I am ashamed of those faults.
- Appāṇaṁ vosirāmi – I give up those faults of my own self and firmly decide not to repeat them.
Very simple arth of “Appāṇaṁ vosirāmi”: > “I renounce my own wrong actions and bad habits, and I resolve to leave them forever.”
Both Śvetāmbara and Digambara traditions accept the same basic sense here: it is a deep inner confession and vow to drop past sins and purify oneself.
