When Jainism came in existence?
According to Jainism, the religion is eternal and has no specific point of origin; it has always existed in some form. Jain tradition teaches that its teachings are revealed in every time cycle by Tirthankaras, who are spiritual teachers that rediscover the path of liberation. The most recent Tirthankara, Mahavira, lived in the 6th century BCE (circa 599–527 BCE) and is often regarded as the historical founder for the current era, but Jains believe that there were 23 Tirthankaras before him in the present time cycle. Thus, Jainism does not have a single date of origin but considers itself an ancient and eternal faith.
