who created jainism
According to Jain Dharma, no one “created” Jainism.
- Jainism is anādi–anant – beginningless and endless.
- It is considered Sanatan Dharma (eternal religion), not made by any god or human.
- In every time‑cycle, the Tirthankaras (24 in the current avasarpini) re‑discover and preach this eternal truth.
In the present time‑cycle:
- Bhagwan Rishabhdev (Adinath) is the 1st Tirthankar, often called the first giver of Jain Dharma in this era.
- Bhagwan Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankar, did not create Jainism; he revived, organized and spread the already‑existing Jain Dharma about 2600 years ago.
So, in simple words: Jainism has no founder; it is eternal. Tirthankaras like Rishabhdev and Mahavir are revealers and revivers of this eternal path, not its creators.
