how many maharaj saheb are currently?
“Maharaj Saheb” generally means Jain sadhus (monks) or Acharyas.
Their exact current number cannot be fixed because:
- Daily new dikshas (people becoming sadhu/sadhvi) happen.
- Some monks leave the body (deh-tyag).
- There are many different sanghs and gachs in both Digambar and Shwetambar traditions, spread over many states and countries.
- No single central official list is maintained that is always perfectly updated.
So, nobody can honestly give an exact number of “how many Maharaj Saheb are there right now”. We can only say that there are many hundreds (actually thousands) of sadhus–sadhvis together across all Jain sampradayas, but the count is always changing.
