We can start eating mango from which date or month
In Jain Dharma, there is no fixed shastriya rule like “mango can be eaten only from this date/month.”
Mango is treated as a normal fruit (like banana, apple etc.), so:
- General days (normal time of year)
- You may eat mango when it is in season, - Fresh, not over‑ripe or fermented, - Well checked for worms/insects.
- During Chaturmās / Paryushan
- Mango is generally allowed as a fruit “if in season”. ( jainknowledge.com) - But it can be restricted by your own niyam (vow), e.g. - “No mangoes in Chaturmās”, - “No ras‑dar (juicy) fruits”, - “Only simple food / only boiled food”, etc. - Always follow the maryādā of your guru / local saṅgh.
- Important Jain principles while eating mango
- Eat before sunset. - Do not eat if it is cut and kept long time, fermented, or smells alcoholic. - Check skin and inside properly for worms or black spoiled parts. - Avoid greed/excitement (rāga); eat with saiyam and gratitude.
So, Jain dharma does not fix a particular date or month for starting mango. You may eat mango whenever it is seasonally available, fresh, and does not break your personal or community vows.
