Pratikraman is mainly done every day, at fixed times. In simple words:

1. Daily Pratikraman (most important)

• Morning – Raisi / Rai Pratikraman

- Done after sunrise, preferably within the first 3 hours after sunrise.

• Evening – Devasi / Sandhyā Pratikraman

- Done after sunset, ideally within 48 minutes after sunset.

Most śrāvak (householders) try to do at least evening (Devasi) Pratikraman daily, and if possible, both morning and evening.

2. Other regular Pratikramans

• Pakkhi (Pakshi) Pratikraman – every 14th day of lunar fortnight.
• Chaumasi Pratikraman – once in 4 months (end of each Chaturmās).
• Samvatsari / Kshamavani Pratikraman – once a year, on the main forgiveness day at the end of Paryushan/Das Lakshan.

Shwetambar & Digambar

• Both traditions do Pratikraman with this same basic idea:

- Morning for faults of the previous night, - Evening for faults of the current day.

• Exact clock timings and vidhi may differ a little by maryādā (local practice), so follow your guru / local sangh if they give a specific time.
