In Jainism, the concept of illusion is closely related to the term "Maya." Maya refers to the delusive nature of worldly existence, which causes souls to become attached to material pleasures and thus remain trapped in the cycle of birth and death (samsara). Jain philosophy teaches that ignorance, delusion, and attachment are sources of illusion, preventing the soul from perceiving the true nature of reality.

One of the central aims in Jainism is to overcome these illusions through right faith (samyak darshan), right knowledge (samyak jnana), and right conduct (samyak charitra). By following these three jewels (ratnatraya), a soul can gradually eliminate karmic bonds and attain liberation (moksha), thus escaping the web of illusions that bind it to worldly existence.
