shloka for peace and
Here is a very beautiful and simple Jain śloka for peace:
Prakrit (Jain Prayer for Universal Forgiveness & Peace) “खम्मेमि सव्वे जीवो, सव्वे जीवो खमंतु मे। मित्ति मे सव्व भूएसु, वेरं मज्झं न केणइ॥”
Transliteration: Khammemi savve jīve, savve jīvā khamantu me। Mitti me savva bhūesu, veraṁ majjhaṁ na keṇai॥
Simple Meaning (arth):
- Khammemi savve jīve – I seek forgiveness from all living beings.
- Savve jīvā khamantu me – May all living beings forgive me.
- Mitti me savva bhūesu – Let my feelings be of friendship towards all.
- Veraṁ majjhaṁ na keṇai – May I not have enmity towards anyone.
How this brings peace:
- It removes anger and hatred from the heart.
- It creates feelings of friendship and compassion for all.
- It calms the mind and reduces inner disturbance (ashānti).
You can chant this śloka slowly a few times every day, especially:
- In the morning after waking up
- At night before sleeping
- After any argument or hurtful situation
If you want, you can also sit quietly, close your eyes, repeat this śloka, and imagine you are asking forgiveness from all souls and giving forgiveness to all. This brings deep inner peace.
