In Jainism, Mount Meru (or Sumeru) is not a mountain on our physical Earth.

• It is at the exact center of Jambudvipa, which is the main central continent in Jain cosmology.
• Jambudvipa lies in Madhyalok (the middle world) of the Jain universe.
• So, Meru’s “location” is cosmological, not geographical – you cannot go there by travel on this Earth.

Both Digambar and Shvetambar traditions agree that:

• Mount Meru stands at the central axis of Jambudvipa.
• Around it are regions like Bharat Kshetra, Airavat Kshetra, and Mahavideh Kshetra etc., described in the scriptures.
