    arham dhyan yog

    8 months ago 158

Arham Dhyan Yog is a Jain-based meditation and yoga system started in the Digambar tradition by Muni Shri 108 Pranamya Sagar Ji Maharaj, disciple of Acharya Shri 108 Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj.

    In simple words:

    • It is based fully on ancient Jain Shraman (monk) practices of dhyan (meditation), yam-niyam, kayotsarg, and Jain values like ahimsa and aparigraha.
    • “Arham” is a sacred sound used in Jainism that expresses the pure, enlightened soul (arihant-bhava) – peace, purity, and infinite potential of the atma.
    • The aim of Arham Dhyan Yog is:
    - to purify body, mind and speech - to awaken atma-bhava (soul-awareness) in daily life - to reduce anger, pride, deceit and greed - to live a simple, compassionate, self-disciplined life.

Main features (in very simple form):

    1. Sharir sadhana (Body level)

    - Easy asanas and exercises - Simple mudras - Pranayam and proper breathing Purpose: keep the body light, disease-free and calm so that real dhyan becomes easy.

    1. Mann sadhana (Mind level)

    - Kayotsarg (deep relaxation with awareness) - Breathing with awareness - Focusing on sound “Arham” and inner peace Purpose: reduce stress, tension, negative thoughts, and make mind steady.

    1. Atma sadhana (Soul level)

    - Contemplation on “Who am I? I am shuddh atma.” - Seeing body, thoughts, emotions as separate from the soul - Developing daya (compassion), kshama (forgiveness), and samata (equanimity) Purpose: slowly move towards true Jain dhyan – inner purity and samyak darshan.

    1. Practical for grihasth (householders)

    - Designed so that common people (not only monks) can practice every day - Time-saving, simple, and can be done at home - Helps in anger control, relationships, studies, work focus, etc., while staying rooted in Jain Dharma.

From Jain viewpoint, the essence of Arham Dhyan Yog:

    • It does not replace core Jain sadhanas like samayik, pratikraman, paap-sthanak, etc., but supports them by making mind and body peaceful.
    • Its real goal is not only health, but inner purification of karmas through right meditation and right conduct.
    • It stands firmly in Digambar Jain tradition, taking inspiration from Tirthankars and great acharyas, and making their dhyan-marg more approachable for today’s world.

If you tell me what exactly you want to know – for example: steps, benefits, how to start, or its place in Jain shastra – I can explain that part in very simple detail.
