Give me the eli k to baahubali's life

    8 months ago 153

Here is a simple life story of Bhagwan Bahubali (Gommateshwar) in easy points:

    1. Birth and family

    - Bahubali was the son of Bhagwan Rishabhdev (Adinath), the 1st Tirthankar, and queen Sunanda. - His elder brother was Bharat Chakravarti, a very powerful king.

    1. Kingdom and power

    - When Rishabhdev Bhagwan took diksha and left the kingdom, he divided his land among his sons. - Bharat became emperor; Bahubali got the kingdom of Asmaka (South region). - Bahubali was very strong, brave and victorious.

    1. The great contest with Bharat

    - Bharat wanted to become Chakravarti (universal emperor) and wanted all brothers under him. - All other brothers accepted Bharat, but Bahubali did not bow. - To avoid killing and war, they decided 3 non‑bloody contests between Bharat and Bahubali: - Drishti‑yuddha – staring contest - Jala‑yuddha – contest in water - Malla‑yuddha – wrestling - In all three, Bahubali won.

    1. Inner change of heart

    - After winning, he thought deeply: “What is the use of this pride, ego and victory? For a small piece of land, I am fighting with my own brother.” - Feeling shame for his ego (maan) and attachment (raag), he decided to renounce everything.

    1. Renunciation (diksha)

    - Bahubali gave his kingdom to Bharat, left his clothes and ornaments, - and became a digambar muni, starting pure spiritual life.

    1. Kayotsarga meditation

    - He stood in kayotsarga posture – motionless, absorbed in the soul. - He remained so steady that vines climbed his legs and anthills rose around his feet. - Outside, his body did not move; inside, he was burning away karma through deep meditation and penance.

    1. Subtle ego and its removal

    - Still, for some time, he did not get keval‑jnan because of a very subtle ego: “I am the one who defeated Bharat.” - His sister Brahmi (in many tellings) or the teaching of Tirthankars reminded him, and he realized even this small sense of “I” must go. - As soon as this last ego dissolved, he attained Keval‑jnan (omniscience).

    1. Keval‑jnan and moksha

    - After becoming Kevali, he gave deshna (divine discourse) and helped many souls. - In Digambar tradition, Bahubali later attained moksha and became a Siddha (liberated soul). - In both Digambar and Shvetambar traditions, he is not counted as a Tirthankar, but as a great Kevali and ideal of renunciation.

    1. Shravanabelagola and the statue

    - In Karnataka, at Shravanabelagola (Vindhyagiri hill), a huge monolithic statue (about 57–58 feet) of Bahubali stands in kayotsarga. - It is called Gommateshwar / Bahubali and is one of the most famous Jain pilgrimage places. - Every 12 years, the grand Mahamastakabhishek (abhishek on his head and body with water, milk, etc.) is done there. - You can read more about this tirth here

    1. Main teaching from Bahubali’s life

    - Real victory is victory over one’s own ego, not over others. - Rajya‑tyag (leaving kingdom), tyag of ahankaar (ego) and deep sadhana lead to keval‑jnan and moksha. - His life teaches: - Non‑attachment to power and wealth - Forgiveness and love even towards those who oppose us - Steady meditation and self‑control

If by “eli k” you meant a very short key summary, then in one line:

Bahubali was a powerful king who, after defeating his brother, felt the futility of pride, renounced everything, did intense kayotsarga meditation, destroyed his ego, attained keval‑jnan, and became an eternal ideal of tyag and atmavijay (victory over self) in Jain Dharma.
