How many yogas are there according to Jainism
According to Jainism, there are 3 yogas (activities):
- Mano-yoga (Mind activity) –
All activities of thinking, imagining, intending, deciding etc.
- Vachana-yoga (Speech activity) –
All activities of speaking, words, sounds, expressions through speech.
- Kaya-yoga (Body activity) –
All physical actions done by the body (hands, feet, movement, etc.).
These three together are called Triyoga (three yogas). Through these three yogas, karmas enter the soul (āsrava) and bind (bandha) when mixed with passions (anger, pride, deceit, greed).
Digambar and Shwetambar – Both traditions accept these same 3 yogas: mind, speech, body. The basic doctrine is the same.
