• Half-cycle (kāl): Avasarpinī (descending / dharma and happiness are decreasing)
• Āra (era): 5th āra – Duṣamā (Pancham Kāl / Dukhama Kāl)

Main points about the 5th āra:

• It is a sorrow‑dominant period – more dukkh, less real sukh.
• Lifespan, strength, and spirituality are low and declining.
• In Bhārat Kṣetra (our region):

- No new Tīrthankars will arise now. - No new Kevalī and no moksha from here in this āra.

• The 5th āra’s total duration is traditionally 21,000 years, and we are only a few thousand years into it; many thousands of years are still left. ( jainknowledge.com)

• We are in Avasarpinī,
