Uvasaggaharam is a short stotra – it has 5 main gāthā (verses), not 27. Mostly people recite it 9, 27 or 108 times, so “27” is usually about count of recitation, not number of verses.

Prakrit (transliteration) Uvasaggaharam pāsaṁ, pāsaṁ vandāmi kamma‑ghaṇa‑mukkam; Visahara visa‑ṇiṇṇāsaṁ, maṅgala kallāṇa āvāsaṁ.

Simple meaning I bow to Bhagwān Pārśvanāth, – who removes all upasarga (difficulties, obstacles), – who is completely free from all karmas, – who destroys all kinds of poison and harmful influences, – who is the abode of mangal and kalyāṇ (auspiciousness and true welfare).

Prakrit (transliteration) Visahar‑phuliṅga‑mantaṁ, kanthe dharei jo sayā manuо; Tassa gah roga māri, duttha‑jarā jānti uvasamaṁ.

Simple meaning One who keeps the Viśahar‑phuliṅg mantra of Pārśvanāth with full faith (as if worn at the neck, i.e. held close and remembered sincerely), for that person the bad planetary effects, diseases, epidemics and cruel fevers are calmed and pacified.

(Traditionally, this points to the protective power of right-faithful remembrance of Pārśvanāth, not just a physical locket.)

Prakrit (transliteration) Chitthau dure manto, tujja paṇamo vi bahu‑phalo hoi; Nara‑tiriesu vi jīva, pāvanti na dukkha‑do‑gacchaṁ.

Simple meaning Even if this mantra is far away (not actually with us), just bowing to you, O Pārśvanāth, gives great fruits. Because of such devotion, humans and even animals do not fall into very deep sorrow and suffering.

Prakrit (transliteration) Tuha sammattе laddhe, chintāmaṇi kappa‑paya‑vabbhahie; Pāvanti aviggheṇaṁ, jīva āyara‑maram ṭhāṇaṁ.

Simple meaning If someone gains right faith (samyaktva) in you and in your true teaching, it is greater even than a wish‑fulfilling jewel or kalpavṛkṣa. With that right faith, the soul attains, without obstacles, the state of eternal, passionless existence (beyond birth and death, i.e. the path to moksha).

Gāthā 5

Prakrit (transliteration) Ea saṁthuо mahāyāsa, bhatti‑bhara‑nibbhareṇa hiyaeṇaṁ; Tā deva dijjā bohiṁ, bhave bhave pāsa jinacchanda.

Simple meaning O greatly glorious Lord Pārśvanāth! With a heart filled completely with devotion, I have praised you in this way. O Lord! Please grant me true spiritual wisdom (bodhi), so that in every birth I may remain near the moon‑like Jina, i.e. close to the path shown by the Tirthankaras, moving towards liberation.

Small note on traditions

• This stotra is specially revered in the Śvetāmbara tradition as one of the Navsmaraṇ (nine sacred recitations).
• Digambar Jains also respect and recite it, though it is not usually listed in the same Navsmaraṇ group; the essence of meaning is the same – devotion to Pārśvanāth as remover of upasarga and giver of samyaktva.
