In Jain Dharma, it is very important to understand that:

Tirthankar Bhagwan does not “give” moksha (mukti) like a gift. Every soul attains moksha only by its own effort:

• Samyak Darshan (right faith)
• Samyak Jnan (right knowledge)
• Samyak Charitra (right conduct)

So why do so many souls progress towards moksha in a Tirthankar’s Samavasaran?

1. Arihant is the perfect teacher

- After Keval Jnan, Tirthankar becomes Sarvajna (knower of all) and Vitarag (absolutely passionless). - His deshna (sermon) is completely pure, without any attachment or hatred. - Such deshna removes deep ignorance of countless bhavya (eligible) souls.

1. Samavasaran is a unique spiritual field

- All types of beings (devas, humans, animals, tiryanch, even some nigod) can come. - Everyone hears in their own language, with no fear, no violence, complete peace. - In such a pure atmosphere, many souls get Samyak Darshan instantly.

1. Many souls are already spiritually “ready”

- Due to their past good karmas, many bhavya jivas take birth near the time and place of a Tirthankar. - They are already on a high spiritual level; they just need the final right guidance. - By listening in Samavasaran, they get right vision and then, through further tapas and sadhana, attain moksha in that same life or very soon.

1. Infinite compassion (Anukampa) of Tirthankar

- Out of boundless daya, Tirthankar establishes Tirth (the path and system of dharma) for all beings. - The purpose of Samavasaran is exactly this: “As many souls as possible should turn away from mithyatva and walk towards moksha.”

Important clarity

• Tirthankar does not destroy others’ karma by will.
• He shows the perfect path; souls purify their own karma by following it.
• So we say “mukti mili Samavasaran mein”, but in doctrine it means:

“Through the Tirthankar’s deshna in Samavasaran, many souls attained right faith/knowledge/conduct and thus became fit for, and then attained, moksha by their own purusharth.”
