In Jain dharma there are two things to understand separately: 1) What is allowed by śāstra (scriptural view) 2) What many families follow as samajik rīt (social custom)

1. After attending someone’s funeral (not in your own house)

From the Jain point of view, there is no real “ashuddhi” (impurity) that stops you from doing pooja.

You may do pooja the same day, but:

1. Come home
2. Take a proper bath
3. Wear clean clothes
4. Then do your normal pooja / Navkār mantra / sāmāyik etc.

So, strictly according to Jain principles, you do not have to wait any fixed number of days just because you attended a funeral.

2. If the death is in your close family / own house

Here scripturally also pooja, japa, pratikraman are allowed from the same day after bath.

But in practice many Jain families:

• Keep a short mourning period, often 3, 8 or sometimes 10 days
• During that time they

- Avoid going to the temple vedi for shṛingār–pooja - Avoid big functions, celebrations, new ventures - Still do Navkār, sāmāyik, pratikraman, pāṭh at home (this is not stopped)

This mourning period is custom (paramparā), not a strict Jain dharmic rule. It can differ between families, cities, and between Digambar / Śvetāmbara communities, but the basic principle is same:

• Violence, attachment and show are wrong
• Shuddha bhakti, Navkār, dhyān are always right

Summary: After attending a funeral, once you have taken a bath and changed into clean clothes, you can do pooja even the same day. If it is a close relative’s death, you may follow your family’s mourning customs for how much temple/vedi pooja you do, but Jain dharma never forbids Navkār, pratikraman and simple bhakti.
