    What should I eat today

    8 months ago 133

I’ll answer from a Jain (ahimsak, satvik) point of view.

Here is a simple one‑day vegetarian (preferably vegan) plan you can follow or adapt:

    Morning (after sunrise)

    • Warm water
    • Fresh seasonal fruit (avoid very old, overripe, or cut fruits kept long)
    • Soaked nuts (almond, walnut) if you take them – avoid honey

    Breakfast

    • Upma / poha with vegetables
    • Or vegetable daliya / oats
    • Or phulka/roti with simple sabzi (low oil, not very spicy)

Lunch (main meal of the day)

    • Phulka/roti (without ghee if you are vegan)
    • 1–2 vegetable sabzis (seasonal, not root vegetables if you follow stricter rules like many Jains)
    • Dal or moong/chana/sprout curry
    • Plain rice / khichdi
    • Salad (cucumber, tomato, etc., freshly cut)

    Evening

    • Light snack: roasted chana, fruits, or light homemade snack
    • Herbal tea / lemon water (no honey if strictly vegan)

Dinner (before sunset if possible, or at least light)

    • Very light and simple:
    - Khichdi / daliya / vegetable soup - Or 1–2 phulka with very light sabzi
    • Avoid heavy, fried, or very spicy food at night

General Jain guidelines you can follow today

    • Strictly avoid: meat, eggs, fish, alcohol.
    • Prefer: freshly cooked food; avoid stale/refrigerated food if you can.
    • Eat with awareness: think of ahimsa and gratitude to all living beings.
    • Do not overeat; leave some space in the stomach.

    If you tell me:

    • whether you eat after sunset or not, and
    • whether you avoid roots (potato, onion, garlic, etc.),

I can suggest a more precise menu for you.
