what is the best time to chant Bhaktambar stotra

    8 months ago 349

You can chant (or listen to) Bhaktamar Stotra at any time, there is no “forbidden time” in Jain Dharma. Still, our acharyas and tradition suggest some best / most helpful times:

    Most auspicious times (if possible):

    1. Brahma‑muhurat – about 1.5 hours before sunrise

    - After bath, in clean clothes - Sit quietly and chant with full concentration

    1. Morning after snatra‑puja / derasar darshan

    - Many people recite Bhaktamar after doing morning puja.

    1. Sandhya time (around sunset)

    - Especially after evening pratikraman or samayik.

    1. Special days & sadhana periods (optional, not compulsory):

    - Paryushan, Ayambil Oli, important tithis like Poonam, Ashtami, etc. - During personal anusthan, when facing problems, illness, fear, etc.

General guidelines (any time of day):

    • Be clean (bath if possible, at least hands–mouth–face, and clean clothes).
    • Sit in a quiet, clean place, ideally facing an idol/photo of Bhagwan Adinath.
    • Start with Navkar Mantra, then chant Bhaktamar slowly and clearly.
    • Keep mind steady and devotional; focus on the meaning, not on speed.
    • Avoid chanting while eating, lying down, driving, or in the toilet.

    Digambar / Shwetambar note:

    • Digambar tradition commonly chants 48 gathas; Shwetambar often 44.
    • The timing and general rules for chanting are the same in both traditions.

So: best is early morning or sandhya time in a clean, peaceful state – but whenever you truly have shuddha bhav and time to focus is a good time to chant Bhaktamar.
