In Jainism, “rishi gotra” in the Hindu sense (Bharadwaj, Kashyap, Gautam, etc. as priestly lineages) is not a core religious concept.

There are two different “gotra” ideas you might be mixing:

1. Gotra as karma (purely Jain, scriptural)

- Among the 8 main karmas, one is Gotra‑karma. - It decides whether in a particular birth you get high respect / status (ucca‑gotra) or low respect / status (nīcha‑gotra). - This has nothing to do with rishis or family clans. - Both Digambar and Shvetambar accept this same meaning.

1. Gotra as family / clan name (social, community use)

- Many Jains, especially Śvetāmbara merchant communities, use gotras (sometimes 84 gotras) as lineage / clan names for marriage and genealogy. - Some names may look like “Rishabh gotra” etc., but these are community traditions, not a scriptural “rishi gotra” system like in Hinduism. - Digambar Jains often don’t emphasise gotra; they go more by surname, region, or community name.

So, in Jain Dharma:

• Spiritually, only Gotra‑karma matters, not rishi lineages.
• Socially, some Jain groups may use clan gotras, but these are not linked to Vedic rishi gotras and have no effect on moksha.
