In pure Jain Dharma, there is no fixed number of days of sutak.

• After birth:

Jain scriptures do not prescribe “10 days, 11 days, 21 days” etc. for sutak. Such day‑counts come from Hindu/social customs, not from Jain āgams. Spirit of Jain dharma: keep cleanliness, ahiṁsā, and good bhāv, and continue Navkār mantra, svādhyāy, etc.

• After death:

Again, in tattva‑Jain view there is no real ritual impurity that stops you from doing dharma. Some sanghs keep 3–13 days as a local maryādā (custom) to keep puja simple, but this is social, not a compulsory Jain rule.

So, sutak “how many days?” – Jain answer: From śāstric Jain viewpoint: no mandatory sutak days are given. Whatever some families follow is just family or community custom, not a binding rule of Jain Dharma.
