Shaving of the head in Jainism is mainly connected with diksha (becoming a sadhu or sadhvi), as a sign of renunciation, not as a mourning custom for laypeople. ( jainknowledge.com)

So, as a Jain layperson:

• You do not have to go bald when someone dies.
• If some families still follow this, it is only a personal or social choice, not a requirement of Jain Dharma.
