In Jain Dharma, “seven fears” (सप्त भय / सात भय) are usually listed as:

1. इहलोक भय (Ih‑lok bhay) – fear related to this world

(loss of comfort, status, relations etc.)

1. परलोक भय (Par‑lok bhay) – fear of the next birth / next world

1. आदान भय (Ādān bhay) – fear of losing one’s wealth or possessions

(theft, loss, destruction)

1. अकस्मात् भय (Akasmāt bhay) – fear of sudden calamity or accident

(fire, earthquake, sudden mishap etc.)

1. आजीविका भय (Ājīvika bhay) – fear about livelihood

(job, income, means of living)

1. मरण भय (Maraṇ bhay) – fear of death

1. अपयश भय / अयशलोक भय (Apayash bhay / Ayash‑lok bhay) –

fear of bad name, insult, or loss of reputation in society

Jain scriptures say that a true samyag‑dṛṣṭi (right‑believing) soul gradually becomes free from these seven fears.
