Can abhavi jeev take diksha. If yes, why do they take diksha if not why not in detail

    Short answer from Jain siddhānt:

    • Abhavi / Abhavya jīv = those souls who are incapable of ever attaining moksha. • Bhavi / Bhavya jīv = those souls who can attain moksha.

    1. Can an abhavi / abhavya jīv take dīkshā?

According to Jain philosophy: Yes, an abhavya jīv can externally take dīkshā (become a sadhu/sādhvī in behaviour and form). But:

    • That dīkshā will never lead them to moksha.
    • They will never get samyak-darshan (right faith) at any time.
    • So their dīkshā remains only at the level of vyavahār (outer conduct), not at the level of paryāy’s final success (moksha).

In simple words: They can wear the dress, follow rules, do tapas, etc., but their soul will never reach liberation.

    2. If they cannot get moksha, why would they take dīkshā?

From Jain darshan, the answer is:

    1. Karmic Sanskār and Prakṛti

    - Every soul acts according to its karmic stock (bandh) and nature (prakṛti). - An abhavya jīv may have such karmas that push it towards renunciation-like life: less interest in family, wealth, etc. - So, out of these karmas, the jīv may feel inclination and actually accept dīkshā.

    1. External Tap, Not Final Fruit

    - The outer actions (tyāg, tapas, shauch, brahmacharya, aparigraha) do happen, and corresponding karmas of that type are bound and shed. - But the one essential change – samyak-darshan – never arises in an abhavya jīv. - Therefore, all their tapas and dīkshā do not culminate in moksha, only in various better/worse bhavs.

    1. Difference between “effort” and “result”

    - Jain siddhānt clearly separates: - Upādān / prayatna (effort of the soul) - Nischit phal (fixed result according to bhavya–abhavya nature) - Abhavya jīv may show effort similar to bhavya jīv, but their ultimate result – moksha – is blocked forever.

    1. For us, it is not knowable who is abhavya

    - Only Kevalī Bhagavān knows exactly which jīv is bhavya or abhavya. - We cannot judge: “This sadhu is abhavya, this is bhavya.” - So, when someone takes dīkshā, from our side we must respect it as a great step; Jain dharma never teaches us to label any living person as abhavya.

    3. So practically, how to understand?

    • Theoretically:
    - Abhavya jīv = can never get moksha, but can do any type of worldly & even religious activities, including dīkshā. - Their dīkshā does not change their abhavya status.
    • Practically for us:
    - We should assume every jīv as bhavya and encourage/ respect dīkshā and dharma. - The category “abhavya” is mainly a tattva (philosophical point), not something for us to apply on specific persons.
