    prakrit siddha bhati with meaning

    7 months ago 199

Here is the commonly recited Prakrit Siddha Bhakti (Siddh Bhakti) with very simple meaning.

This is a short, popular version (not an Agam-sutra, but a bhakti-stotra). Wording may vary slightly by sangh; this is the general form.

    ---

    Prakrit / Sanskritized Text

Though often called “Prakrit Siddha Bhakti”, you will notice the language here is closer to simple Sanskrit; in common usage people still refer to it as Siddh Bhakti / Siddha Bhakti in “Prakrit style”.

    ---

    Very Simple Meaning (Arth)

    1st verse

I bow to the Siddhas, the Lords among Siddhas, who are fully filled with the pure state of liberation.
They are the essence of perfection, the highest truth, whose nature is absolutely pure, without any karma.

    ---

    2nd verse

They have fully achieved the goal (siddhārtha – moksha), they grant the inspiration for that same goal, they are completely pure, and free from any impure thoughts.
They are perfect in right knowledge and are fully established in the true Jain doctrine about the Siddha-state.

    ---

    3rd verse

After worshipping the Siddhas with a focused mind, one should meditate on them and their qualities.
I bow to that pure state of the Siddhas and pray for right vision (samyak-darshan) focused on them.

    ---

    Spiritual Essence

    • We are bowing only to Siddhas – souls who have completely destroyed all karmas and attained Moksha.
    • We do not ask them for worldly things; we only remember their guna (qualities):
    - complete purity - perfect knowledge and faith - total freedom from anger, pride, deceit, greed.
    • By remembering them with devotion, we slowly develop right faith, right knowledge and right conduct in our own life.

    ---

    Digambar / Shwetambar note

    • Both Digambar and Shwetambar traditions worship Siddhas in the same basic way and accept the same qualities of Siddhas.
    • The exact bhakti text or tune called “Siddh Bhakti” can differ slightly from one tradition or local pathshala book to another (extra verses, slightly different words), but the arth and bhāva are the same: pure praise of the liberated souls.
