In Jainism, it is believed that the religion is eternal (anādi-ananta), meaning it has no beginning or end. According to Jain teachings, the principles of Jainism have always existed in the universe and are revealed in every time cycle (kalachakra) by the Tirthankaras—enlightened spiritual teachers.

In the current time cycle, the 24th and most recent Tirthankara, Lord Mahavira, revitalized and reorganized the Jain community. Mahavira lived from 599 BCE to 527 BCE. However, Jains believe that the teachings of the first Tirthankara, Rishabhanatha (Adinath), were revealed countless ages ago, far before recorded history.

Therefore, Jainism does not have a specific date of establishment, as it is considered a timeless and eternal faith.
