Saiyam panthe vihar
“Saiyam panthe vihar” (often written “Saiyam panthe vihar / Saiyam panthe prayan”) is Gujarati mixed with a little Sanskrit:
- Saiyam (संयम) = self‑restraint, discipline, renunciation (the life of vows – sadhu/sadhvi‑dharma)
- Panthe (पन्थे) = on the path / on the way
- Vihar (विहार) = to move about, to travel / live / wander
So the simple meaning is:
> “May you live and move on the path of saiyam (self‑restraint).” > “Walk your whole life only on the path of saiyam.”
In Jain usage it is usually:
- A blessing or good wish for someone going towards diksha or vairagya.
- A reminder that the true path of happiness and liberation is the path of saiyam – controlling passions, observing vows, and living with ahimsa, aparigraha, and inner purity.
