In Jain shastra, when people say “4 Āgam” they usually mean the 4 Anuyog (4 divisions of Jain scriptures):

1. Prathamanuyog / Dharmakathānuyog

- Content: Stories, charitras, purāṇ, itihās, examples. - Purpose: To inspire dharma through examples of Tirthankars, Ganadhars, shravaks, shravikas, etc.

1. Karaṇānuyog / Gaṇitānuyog

- Content: Jain cosmology and numbers – Lok (universe), kāl (time), dvīp, samudra, narak, devlok, measures, calculations. - Purpose: To understand the structure of the universe and karmic system logically.

1. Dravyānuyog

- Content: 6 dravya, 9 tattva, soul–non‑soul analysis, karma philosophy. - Purpose: To understand reality (tattva-jñān) in depth.

1. Caraṇānuyog / Charan‑kāraṇānuyog

- Content: Āchār, conduct of sadhus–sādhvīs and shravaks–shravikās, vows, rules of discipline. - Purpose: To show how to live Jain dharma in practice.

These 4 together are called the chāri Anuyog, and all Jain Āgams and later granths are grouped under one of these four.
