Nange surya gotra
“Nange Surya gotra” = “My gotra is Surya.”
In Jain view:
- “Surya gotra” is a family / clan name, not a religious status.
- It is used only for social and marriage records. - Jain scriptures do not give a fixed list of such gotras.
- Jain dharma does not depend on gotra.
- Your spiritual progress depends on shraddha, gyan, charitra (right faith, knowledge, conduct), not on Surya, Chandra, etc. gotra. - Both Digambar and Shwetambar traditions see gotra as a social thing, not a spiritual rank.
- Is your gotra really “Surya”?
- Only your family elders (parents, grandparents) or old lagna‑patrika / community records can confirm it. - Same surname or same village does not always mean same gotra.
