For Sthānakvāsī Jains there is no reliable official count of followers.

• The Government of India census (2011) only counts people as “Jain”; it does not divide by sect (Digambar, Mūrtipūjak, Sthānakvāsī, Terāpanthī, etc.).
• Because of this, authentic Jain sources also do not give an exact worldwide or Indian number only for Sthānakvāsī.
• Scholars generally agree that Sthānakvāsī are a minority within the Śvetāmbara Jains, and Śvetāmbaras themselves are only a part of total Jains (about 44–45 lakh Jains in India as per 2011 census). So Sthānakvāsī numbers are much smaller than this total, but exact figures are not known.

So the honest Jain-dharma-based answer is:

> We do not have a precise, trustworthy number of Sthānakvāsī followers. > Only total Jain population is officially counted; sect-wise populations like Sthānakvāsī are estimated but not reliably recorded.
