In Jainism, the correct word is “kashāya”, not “khashaya gota”.

Kashāya = passions of the soul Kashāya means the inner negative emotions that bind karma to the soul. There are four main kashāyas:

1. Krodh – anger
2. Mān – pride / ego
3. Māyā – deceit / cheating nature
4. Lobh – greed

Because of these kashāyas, the soul remains in saṁsār (birth–death cycle). When kashāya is fully destroyed, the soul becomes Vitarāg (without attachment and hatred) and attains moksha.

So:

• “Kashāya” does not mean “Jains”.
• It is a Jain technical word for passions (anger, pride, deceit, greed) which we try to reduce and finally remove.
