    prayer everyday by jain

    7 months ago 170

Here is a very simple and pure daily Jain prayer you can do every day.

    1. Main daily mantra – Navkār / Namokār Mantra

This is the most important Jain prayer, suitable for every day, morning and night.

    In Prakrit:

    Simple meaning (arth):

    • Namo Arihantāṇam – I bow to all Arihants (perfect beings who have destroyed inner passions and know everything).
    • Namo Siddhāṇam – I bow to all Siddhas (liberated souls who have reached moksha).
    • Namo Āyariyāṇam – I bow to all Āchāryas (head monks, spiritual leaders).
    • Namo Uvajjhāyāṇam – I bow to all Upādhyāyas (spiritual teachers).
    • Namo Loe Savva-sāhūṇam – I bow to all sadhus and sadhvīs (monks and nuns) in the universe.
    • Eso pañcha Namokāro – These five bowings
    • Savva-pāvappaṇāsano – destroy all sins.
    • Mangalanam cha savvesim – Among all that is auspicious,
    • Padhamam havai mangalam – this Navkār Mantra is the highest auspicious.

This meaning is accepted in both Śvetāmbara and Digambara traditions.

    ---

    2. Small daily forgiveness prayer

After Navkār Mantra, you can say:

    खामेमि सव्व जीवे, सव्वे जीवा खमंतु मे। मित्ति मे सव्व भूएसु, वेऱं मज्झं न केणई ॥

    Simple meaning:

    • I forgive all living beings,
    • May all living beings forgive me.
    • I am friendly towards all beings,
    • I have enmity towards none.

    ---

    3. How to use this as your daily prayer

    Very simple routine:

    1. After waking up and before sleeping

    - Sit quietly, close eyes, fold hands. - Recite Navkār Mantra at least 5 times with full attention. - Then say the small forgiveness prayer once.

    1. Keep these bhāvanā (feelings) in mind:

    - “I want to become peaceful and non-violent like Arihants and Siddhas.” - “I will try not to hurt any living being in thought, word, or action today.”
