Niyam for amonth
Here is a simple 1-month Jain niyam plan you can follow. Keep it realistic so you can actually continue it.
---
Step 1: Decide Your Main Niyam (for all 30 days)
Choose 1–3 main niyam that you will follow every day for a month.
You can pick from these:
- Samayik niyam
- Do 1 samayik (48 minutes) daily, at a fixed time.
- Jain stotra / mantra niyam
- Recite Navkar Mantra at least 108 times daily, or - Recite Uvasaggaharam Stotra or any one stotra you like, daily.
- Food-related niyam
Pick one: - No kand-mool (potato, onion, garlic, etc.) for the whole month. - No food after sunset (chaudas / poshadh-style) for all 30 days. - Avoid pakkanu (fried, outside food, sweets) for 30 days.
- Ahimsa niyam
- Speak without anger or harsh words (try complete control on vaanee). - No arguments, no hurting anyone knowingly.
- Digital / time niyam
- No mobile / social media for 1 hour in the morning – use that time only for paath, pratikraman, or swadhyay.
Choose what suits your life, but once you decide – don’t break it for 30 days.
---
Step 2: Basic Daily Routine (Simple)
Try to maintain this every day:
Morning:
- Wake up, do Navkar Mantra (at least 9 times).
- Do your fixed niyam (Samayik / paath / stotra).
- Think: “Aaj pura din ahimsa, vinay aur sayyam se bitaunga/bitaungi.”
Daytime:
- Be careful of:
- Before eating, do Navkar Mantra once and remember punya & ahimsa.
Evening / Night:
- Try not to eat after sunset (if possible; or at least once/twice a week).
- Do a small pratikraman:
---
Step 3: Weekly Small Extras (Optional)
Each week, add one small special niyam:
- Week 1: One day – do Ekasan / Beasan (eat once or twice with full control).
- Week 2: One day – avoid mobile, TV, timepass for half a day.
- Week 3: One day – speak only when necessary, more silence.
- Week 4: One day – do extra paath (e.g., 51 / 108 Navkar more than usual).
---
Step 4: How to Start and End the Month
First day:
- Sit calmly, do Navkar Mantra.
- Decide clearly:
- Take this niyam in front of Arihant–Siddha–Sadhu–Dharma in your heart.
Last day (day 30):
- Do a little pratikraman / prayer:
---
Very Important
- Better to take a small niyam and follow 100%,
- Niyam should bring shanti, vinay and awareness, not ego.
If you tell me:
- Your age,
- Whether you are student / working / homemaker,
- And what you already do (if anything),
I can suggest a very specific 1-month niyam plan tailored just for you.
