1. जय वीयराय! जग-गुरु!,

होउ ममं तुह प्पभावओ भयवं! भव-निव्वेओ मग्गाणुसारिआ इट्ठफल-सिद्धी ॥१॥

1. लोग-विरुद्ध-च्चाओ गुरु-जण-पूआ परत्थ-करणं च

सुह-गुरु-जोगो तव्वयण-सेवणा आ-भवमखंडा ॥२॥

1. वारिज्जइ जइ वि नियाण-बंधणं वीयराय! तुह समये

तह वि मम हुज्ज सेवा, भवे भवे तुम्ह चलणाणं ॥३॥

1. दुक्ख-क्खओ कम्म-क्खओ,

समाहि-मरणं च बोहि-लाभो अ संपज्जउ मह एअं, तुह नाह! पणाम-करणेणं ॥४॥

Simple Meaning (Arth)

Very briefly and simply:

1. Verse 1

“O Vitrag Mahavira, Teacher of the world! By your grace may I:

• develop disgust for worldly birth‑death,
• follow the right path,
• and attain the best spiritual result (moksha).”

1. Verse 2

“May I:

• give up all wrong and sinful acts,
• respect Guru and elders,
• help others,
• stay in the company of true Gurus,
• and serve their teachings in every birth.”

1. Verse 3

“O Vitrag! Even though asking worldly favours is not allowed in your path, still please grant that

• in every birth I get a chance to serve your feet (your path and your teachings).”

1. Verse 4

“By bowing to you, O Lord, may I obtain:

• destruction of sorrow,
• destruction of karma,
• peaceful spiritual death (samadhi‑maraṇ),
• and the gain of true faith and spiritual progress.”

1. Verse 5

“Among all auspicious things, Jain Dharma is the most auspicious; among all paths of welfare, it is the highest. May the Jain Shasan (teachings of the Jinas) always be victorious.”

• This sutra is accepted and recited mainly in Śvetāmbara tradition (especially Mūrtipūjak).
• The meaning and bhāva (spirit) is fully in line with both Śvetāmbara and Digambara Jain philosophy:
