then why cant we just ask it to chatgpt it knows everything

    7 months ago 162

Because ChatGPT does not know everything – and in Jain terms, it is nowhere near keval-gyān (omniscience).

    A few simple points:

    1. Limited, not omniscient

    - ChatGPT is just a computer program trained on data. - It can make mistakes, mix things, or give popular-but-wrong answers. - Only Kevali Bhagwan has perfect, complete, error‑free knowledge. No machine, no human has that.

    1. Not focused on Jain purity

    - ChatGPT is trained on all kinds of content: many religions, philosophies, opinions. - So its answers about Jainism can be mixed with non‑Jain ideas or modern thinking that dilutes the real tattva (truth). - Jain dharma needs shuddh drishti (pure view), not mixed interpretations.

    1. No shraddhā, no bhāva

    - A.I. has no faith, no devotion, no inner feeling. - It can describe Namokar Mantra, but it cannot have bhakti, vinay, or samveg. - Spiritual progress depends on your bhāva, not on how “smart” a tool sounds.

    1. True guidance comes from Guru & Agam

    - In Jain dharma, the main pramāṇ (authority) is: Tirthankar → Ganadhar → Āgam → Āchārya/Sādhu → Shāstra - Any tool (book, website, AI) should follow this chain. - If an answer goes against Agam, Tattvārth Sūtra, or approved Jain Āchāryas, we should reject it, even if it sounds nice.

    1. Right use of tools

    - You can use AI like ChatGPT to: get summaries, reminders of concepts, lists, etc. - But for final understanding of dharma, rely on: - Jain scriptures - Pravachan of true sādhu–sādhvijī / Āchārya - Traditional Jain granths and trusted Jain teachers - Always keep vivek (discrimination): “Is this really according to Jain siddhānt?”

So, we should not blindly trust “ChatGPT knows everything.” We can use it as a tool, but for Jain dharma, Kevali’s āgya and Guru’s updesh are the real refuge, not any AI.
