1. Does Bhagwan Rishabhdev (Rishabhanath) have two wives?

Yes. According to Jain scriptures and tradition, Bhagwan Rishabhdev (Ādināth), the 1st Tirthankar, had two queens in his gṛihasth (householder / king) life:

• Queen Sumangalā – mother of

- 99 sons (the eldest is Bharat Chakravarti) - 1 daughter – Brahmī

• Queen Sunandā – mother of

- 1 son – Bahubali - 1 daughter – Sundarī

1. How did a Tirthankar give birth to his sons?

Very important point in Jainism:

• A Tirthankar is first a human being (with extremely high puṇya and special Tirthankar-nāma-karma).
• He takes birth in a royal or very pure family, lives as a prince/king and householder, and only later renounces and becomes a Tirthankar, then attains Keval‑jñān, and finally Moksha.

So for Rishabhdev Bhagwan:

• His children (Bharat, Bahubali, etc.) are born during his gṛihasth life as King Rishabh, before he becomes a Tirthankar.
• Conception and birth are normal human births, but:

- The mother sees 14 (or 16) auspicious dreams at the time of conception – this is called Garbha‑kalyāṇak. - The actual birth (Janma‑kalyāṇak) is also very special and celebrated by devas, but the process is not described as something different from natural human birth.
