In Jainism, we do not use the word “God” (like a creator or controller) for Bhagwan Mahavir.

Instead, we say:

• Bhagwan Mahavir is a Tirthankar and a Siddha.
• He is a liberated soul (moksha prapt atma) who has destroyed all karmas and attained keval gyan (infinite knowledge).
• He does not create the universe, does not control our lives, and does not give reward or punishment.

So what is Mahavir for us?

• He is an Arihant (vitarag, all passions destroyed) when he is alive and teaching.
• After nirvana, he becomes a Siddha (pure soul at the top of the universe – Siddha Shila).
• He is perfect, omniscient, blissful, and worthy of worship.
• We bow to him not as a creator-god, but as an ideal of what every soul can become.

Key Jain view

• Every soul has the potential to become like Mahavir.
• Jainism believes in many Siddhas, not one supreme creator.
• We worship Mahavir as Vitrag Dev – a passionless, liberated being.

So, in simple words:

• Is Mahavir “God” as creator? – No.
• Is Mahavir a perfect, liberated, worship-worthy soul (like God in purity and perfection)? – Yes.

He is our Aradhya Dev (supreme spiritual ideal), not a creator of the universe.
