In Updhan, this depends on the niyam (rules) you have taken from your guru / pravartak, not on one fixed rule for all.

General points:

• Basic principle: During Updhan a shravak tries to live like a sadhu as much as possible – simple life, minimum possessions, no show‑off, and maximum dhyan–sadhana.
• Clothes should be:

- plain, simple, generally white - non‑fashionable, non‑attractive - few in number (as little “parigrah” as possible) - kept clean to avoid disease and to maintain shauch (purity)

About changing every day:

• In most Updhan arrangements, it is allowed to:

- keep 1–2 simple sets of clothes - wash and change daily or as needed for cleanliness

• In some sanghs the niyam may be stricter, e.g.:

- only one main set of clothes - you may change only after washing, or only on certain days

There is no general Jain shastra rule that “you cannot change clothes every day in Updhan.” What matters is:

1. You do not increase parigrah (extra sets, fashionable clothes, variety).
2. You strictly follow the exact niyam given by your guru / pravartak for that specific Updhan batch.

So:

• If your written niyam does not say “only one pair of clothes,” then normally you may change into another washed, simple pair each day.
• If you are unsure, ask the Updhan in‑charge / guru and follow whatever they say exactly. In Updhan, obedience to niyam is more important than personal preference.
