3 idols found at mana village near Akola is a verified historical proof of matang vansh jain?

    6 months ago 105

No. The three Jain idols found at Mana village near Akola are not a verified historical proof of a specific “Matang vansh Jain” lineage.

What we can say with reasonable certainty (based on available reports and court documents) is:

    • The idols are Jain Tirthankar murtis (Neminath, Shambhavnath, Mahavir).
    • They are considered ancient (around 11th–12th century) and important from an archaeological and cultural point of view.
    • There is, so far, no accepted inscription or scholarly report linking these particular idols to a caste/vansh like “Matang vansh”.

    Archaeology can show:

    • “There were Jains here at this time.”
    It usually cannot show:
    • “These Jains belonged to this particular caste or vansh,”
unless there is a clear, readable inscription explicitly saying so (which, in this case, is not reported).

    From the Jain dharma perspective:

    • Spiritual status does not depend on jāti or vansh.
    • Whether some community’s tradition claims Jain roots is a separate social/historical discussion, not something these three murtis alone can “prove”.

So, at present, those idols are a strong historical proof of ancient Jain presence in Mana (Akola), but not a verified proof of “Matang vansh Jain” specifically.
