    How to do navpad daily

    6 months ago 243

“Navpad” means the 9 supreme pads (Navapad) that we bow to:

    1. Arihant
    2. Siddha
    3. Acharya
    4. Upadhyaya
    5. Sadhu
    6. Samyak Darshan
    7. Samyak Gyan
    8. Samyak Charitra
    9. Samyak Tap

You can remember them by the Navkar Mantra itself.

Below is a very simple way to do daily Navpad aradhna at home (5–15 minutes; adjust as you like).

    ---

    1. Preparation (Shuddhi & Bhav)

    • Wake up, brush, bathe / at least wash hands, feet, face.
    • Wear clean clothes.
    • Sit in a clean, quiet place (home mandir / corner).
    • If you have: Siddhachakra / Navpad photo or yantra, keep it in front. If not, just sit facing your ghar-derasar.

Close eyes for a moment and think: “Today I bow to these 9 pads for inner shuddhi (purity), not for worldly things.”

    ---

    2. Navkar Mantra with Navpad Bhav

    1. Join hands, do 3, 9, or 27 Navkar Mantra slowly.

    While reciting, keep this feeling: - “In णमो अरिहंताणं – I bow to Arihant pad.” - “णमो सिद्धाणं – I bow to Siddha pad.” - “णमो आयरियाणं – I bow to Acharya pad.” - “णमो उवज्झायाणं – I bow to Upadhyaya pad.” - “णमो लोए सव्वसाहूणं – I bow to all Sadhus (Sadhu pad).”

    1. After that, remember the remaining 4 pads in mind:

    - Samyak Darshan (right faith) - Samyak Gyan (right knowledge) - Samyak Charitra (right conduct) - Samyak Tap (right austerity)

You can say in simple words (any one language you like):

    > “I bow to right faith, right knowledge, right conduct and right tap. > May I walk a little on this path today.”

    ---

    3. Simple Daily Navpad Steps (Very Easy Vidhi)

You can do any or all of these:

    (A) 9 Navkars – each for one pad

    • Recite 9 Navkar Mantras.
    • With each Navkar, mentally offer to one pad in this order:

    1st – Arihant 2nd – Siddha 3rd – Acharya 4th – Upadhyaya 5th – Sadhu 6th – Samyak Darshan 7th – Samyak Gyan 8th – Samyak Charitra 9th – Samyak Tap

This takes only a few minutes and is easy to remember.

    (B) Swastik + Pranam

If you have a small place for puja:

    • With rice / kumkum / chandan (or even just mentally if nothing is available):
    - Make 1 swastik or 9 small dots in front of Navpad / photo.
    • Do 5 full prostrations (khamasanas / keshlo) or at least 5 times standing pranam, thinking of Panch Parmeshthi and all 9 pads.

    (C) Short Silence / Meditation (Kayotsarg)

    • Sit silently for 1–3 minutes.
    • Watch your breath and feel:
    - “These 9 pads are perfect. I am very small, full of faults, but I want to move a little towards them.”

    ---

    4. Simple Daily Vows Connected to Navpad

Navpad aradhna is not only puja – it is also a little change in life.

You can take 1–2 small sankalps for the day, for example:

    • “Today I will try to not hurt anyone by words (ahimsa, Charitra).”
    • “Today I will speak truth softly (Samyak Charitra).”
    • “Today I will spend 5–10 minutes in Jain pathshala / reading (Samyak Gyan).”
    • “Today at least once I will say Michhami Dukkadam to the one I have hurt (Samyak Darshan, Charitra).”
    • “Once in a week I will do Ekasan / no junk food as small Tap.”

Even one small change done daily with Navpad bhav becomes real Navpad sadhana.

    ---

    5. Time & Tradition (Digambar / Shwetambar)

    • Best times: Morning after bath, or evening before dinner / pratikraman.
    • Digambar / Shwetambar:
    - Both respect the same 9 pads. - Exact vidhi, sutras, and puja style may differ (some do full Siddhachakra Puja, some only mantra and bhav). - Follow your family’s or guru’s maryada; above method is a very simple, common minimum that suits all.

    ---

    6. If You Want a Little More Detailed Puja

For a somewhat fuller but still simple Siddhachakra / Navpad Puja (with more steps like shuddhi, sankalp, ashtaprakari, etc.) you can see a guide here: You can read more here

For understanding Navpad Oli (same 9 pads, but with Ayambil tap) day-wise aradhna, see: You can read more here

    ---

Daily Navpad in one line: Every day, with clean body and pure heart, do a few Navkars with clear bhav to all 9 pads, sit a minute in silence, and try to live that day with a little more right faith, right knowledge, right conduct and small tap. That itself is beautiful Navpad sadhana.
