i am awesome how i can justify this via jain principle

    6 months ago 121

In Jainism, “I am awesome” can be right or wrong depending on what you mean by “I” and “awesome.”

    1. From Jain point of view – you really are amazing

Jain dharma says every jiva (soul) has:
    • Infinite knowledge (अनन्त ज्ञान)
    • Infinite perception (अनन्त दर्शन)
    • Infinite bliss (अनन्त सुख)
    • Infinite energy (अनन्त वीर्य)

Right now these are covered by karmas, but they are already your true nature. So if you say inside, with humility:

    > “My soul is great, pure and full of infinite qualities.”

then this fully matches Jain principles. This is like remembering: “I am not small or useless – my true Self is capable of becoming a Kevali (omniscient).”

    2. But pride (मान) is a big fault

    If “I am awesome” means:
    • “I am better than others.”
    • “I am special, others are nothing.”
    • “I did everything, I am the greatest.”

then this becomes maan (pride), which is one of the four main kashayas (anger, pride, deceit, greed) and is a cause of bondage of karma.

    So Jain view:

    • Right: “As a soul, I have infinite potential just like every other soul.”
    • Wrong: “As this personality/body, I am superior to others.”

    3. How to justify it correctly in Jain way

You can “justify” feeling awesome like this:

    1. Shift ‘I’ from body to soul

    - Not: “I am awesome because I am rich, smart, beautiful, successful.” - But: “I am awesome because my soul’s nature is pure, knowing, blissful.”

    1. Include others

    - “Every soul is awesome in its true nature, not only mine.”

    1. Stay humble

    - “Right now my true qualities are covered by karmas; I must do samyak charitra (right conduct) to uncover them.”

A simple Jain-style sentence you can use:

    > “Mara atma ni swabhav thi hu anant gunon vala, pavitra che; em j badha jivo che.” > “By nature my soul has infinite virtues and is pure; so do all souls.”

This way you keep your inner confidence, but stay within Jain principles of non-ego and equality of all souls.
