I guess shwetambaram is more suitable for me
In Jain Dharma, both Shwetambar and Digambar are valid, ancient paths. Feeling that “Shwetambar is more suitable” is completely fine.
A few simple points to keep in mind:
- Core Jainism is the same
- Same 24 Tirthankar Bhagwans - Same goal: moksha (liberation) - Same main principles: ahimsa, satya, asteya, brahmacharya, aparigraha
- Why you may feel closer to Shwetambar
Many people feel Shwetambar is easier or more familiar because: - Murti and mandir style may feel more “known” or comfortable - Paryushan (8 days, Samvatsari) and daily pratikraman are widely practiced - Sadhus and sadhvis wearing white clothes may feel more approachable
- What really matters for you
More important than “which sect” is: - Reducing violence in day-to-day life (food, speech, behaviour) - Doing regular pratikraman (even a small one) - Listening to pravachan / reading Agams and Jain granths - Developing detachment and forgiveness slowly
If your heart naturally connects more with Shwetambar practices, you can happily follow that path while always remembering: “I am first a Jain, then Shwetambar/Digambar.”
