    the manglik sutra in english

    6 months ago 136

Here is the commonly recited Mangalik Sutra (Mangal Path) in simple English meaning.

In many Jain families, “Manglik” usually includes:

    1. Navkar Mantra
    2. Mangalam Bhagwan Viro (Mangal Shloka)
    3. Short Mangal lines for universal well‑being

Below is the meaning in English (not word‑by‑word, but clear simple sense):

    ---

    1. Navkar (Namokar) Mantra – Meaning in English

I bow to the Arihants – the enlightened beings. I bow to the Siddhas – the liberated souls. I bow to the Acharyas – the heads of the Jain order. I bow to the Upadhyayas – the spiritual teachers. I bow to all Sadhus and Sadhvis – the monks and nuns in the whole universe.

This five‑fold bowing destroys all sins. It is the first and highest among all auspicious things.

    ---

    2. “Mangalam Bhagwan Viro” – English Meaning

Auspiciousness be to Lord Mahavira. Auspiciousness be to Gautam Swami. Auspiciousness be to Acharya Sthulibhadra and all Acharyas. Auspiciousness be to the Jain Dharma.

(Here we are praying that everything becomes mangal – pure, peaceful and good – through remembering Mahavira, his chief disciple, the Acharyas and the Jain path.)

You can read a little more about “Mangalam Bhagwan Viro” here

    ---

    3. General Mangal / Well‑being Lines – Simple English Sense

May Arihants, Siddhas, Acharyas, Upadhyayas, and all Sadhus bring auspiciousness. May all living beings be happy. May all living beings be peaceful. May all living beings be free from fear and suffering.

May there be auspiciousness for all in the world, May obstacles be removed, May everyone move towards right faith, right knowledge and right conduct.

    ---

If you want, I can also write:

    • the full Manglik text in Sanskrit/Prakrit/Hindi,
    • and then give line‑by‑line English meaning for each line.
