“Ded Porshi” (or “Deḍ Porsi”) is a time limit counted from sunrise.

In Jain dharm it is usually understood as:

• Porsi ≈ about 3 hours after sunrise
• Ded Porsi = 1½ Porsi ≈ about 4½ hours after sunrise

So, to find your Ded Porshi timing:

1. Check today’s sunrise time for your city.
2. Add about 4 hours 30 minutes to that time.

Example:

• If sunrise is at 6:30 am
• Ded Porshi time is around 11:00 am

People who take a “Ded Porsi” niyama will finish their food before this time and then do not eat for the rest of the day.
