ded porshi timing
“Ded Porshi” (or “Deḍ Porsi”) is a time limit counted from sunrise.
In Jain dharm it is usually understood as:
- Porsi ≈ about 3 hours after sunrise
- Ded Porsi = 1½ Porsi ≈ about 4½ hours after sunrise
So, to find your Ded Porshi timing:
- Check today’s sunrise time for your city.
- Add about 4 hours 30 minutes to that time.
Example:
- If sunrise is at 6:30 am
- Ded Porshi time is around 11:00 am
People who take a “Ded Porsi” niyama will finish their food before this time and then do not eat for the rest of the day.
