In practical, visible form – it is considered extinct today.

• In Śvetāmbara tradition:

- Texts (like Kalpa‑sūtra etc.) describe Jinakalpi and Sthavirakalpi monks. - It is clearly accepted that in the present era only Sthavirakalpi monks remain; Jinakalpi‑type monks are not actually seen now.

• In Digambara tradition:

- Early disciples of Tirthankaras are often described as living in a Jina‑kalpa manner (nude, extremely austere, almost no possessions). - Over the course of time, the organised muni‑sangh follows a somewhat moderated pattern. - Practically, present‑day Digambar munis are not formally classified as “Jinakalpi” in the old technical sense, even though some may be extremely austere.

3. Is the ideal of Jin‑kalp gone?

• The “name / formal status” is extinct, but the ideal is not.
• Whenever any monk (or even layperson, in their own capacity) increases:

- detachment (vairaagya), - penance (tapas), - carefulness in vows (mahāvrat / aṇuvrat), - and purity of mind (kṣayopashama of passions),

they move closer to the Jin‑kalp ideal, even if nobody calls them “Jinakalpi”.

• Spiritually as an ideal way of living like the Jina = always available, as a goal to aspire to.
