what is my gotra if my kul devi is varai ma
You cannot know your gotra just from the name of your kuldevi.
“Varai Maa” (Maa Varai) can be the kuldevi of many different vansh / jati / families, and each of those families can have different gotras. So:
- One kuldevi = many possible gotras
- Gotra is decided by your pita‑vansh (father’s family line), not by the kuldevi’s name
To know your real gotra, you should:
- Ask your parents, grandparents, or elder relatives
- If your family has any old patra, genealogy book, or community record, check there
- If you belong to a Jain sangh/samaj, sometimes the local sangh elders or community register will also have this information
From Jain dharma point of view, social gotra (like caste gotra) is not spiritually important; what truly matters is samyak darshan, samyak gyan, and samyak charitra. But for marriage or community identity, only your family can correctly tell you your gotra.
