Baby corn is allowed
In normal Jain practice, baby corn is allowed.
- Corn (makai) grows above the ground, and taking the cob does not kill the whole plant.
- It is listed among generally permitted vegetables in Jain food guides (along with other above‑ground vegetables).
- So both regular corn and baby corn are accepted in most Jain households.
Only point to remember:
- Always check your family maryada and your guru’s updesh. Some very strict families may add extra personal rules, but traditionally, baby corn is considered OK for Jains.
