Share Varshitapa Calender for Year 2026-27

    6 months ago 268

For Varshitap, the spiritually fixed points are the tithis (lunar days), not the English dates. For the year that falls in 2026–27, the commonly followed pattern (Śvetāmbara tradition) is:

    • Varshitap Ārambh (Start):
Chaitra Shukla Ashtamī (8th day of bright half of Chaitra) – in 2026 this falls around early March 2026 (many Jain pañchāngs show 9 March 2026, Friday). ( jaindharmonline.com)
    • Varshitap Pārṇā (End):
Vaiśākh Shukla Tritīyā – Akṣaya Tritīyā. In 2026 different Hindu/Jain pañchāngs place Akṣaya Tritīyā on 18–20 April 2026 (Wednesday/Monday), depending on calculation and region. ( csb.bank.in)

Because of this difference between regional pañchāngs, a single fixed “English-date calendar” for all places is not reliable. For Varshitap, you should always:

    1. Fix the two tithis in your mind:

    - Start: Chaitra Shukla 8 - Pārṇā: Vaiśākh Shukla 3 (Akṣaya Tritīyā)

    1. Take the detailed day‑by‑day calendar (upavās / ekāsan / bēsaan, etc.)

from: - Your local Jain pañchāng (temple/sangh), or - A trusted Jain Panchang app that is set to your city.

The tithi pattern of Varshitap remains the same every year; only the matching English dates change by location and pañchāng method. So for 2026–27, once you get your local pañchāng:

    • Mark Chaitra Shukla 8, 2026 as Day 1 (start).
    • Mark Vaiśākh Shukla 3, 2026 as Pārṇā day.
    • Follow the alternating Varshitap routine as guided by your guru / local Jain upādhyāy.
