Givean example of Anyatva bhavana
Anyatva bhavana means: “Everything that I call mine (body, mind, name, relations, wealth) is actually other than me, the soul.”
Here is a very simple example:
- I say: “My body, my thoughts, my house, my family.”
- In Anyatva bhavana I reflect:
So an actual contemplation can be:
> “I am a conscious soul. > This body is made of matter and will be left here one day. > My relatives, wealth, name and status will stay behind. > They are all anyat (different) from me. > I should not get attached to them.”
This is Anyatva bhavana – slowly cutting the feeling of “I am this body and these possessions” and remembering “I am only the knowing–seeing soul.”
