In Jainism, “Siddha” and “Moksha” are closely related but not the same thing.

1. What is Moksha (Moksha / Moksh)?

• Moksha = Liberation.
• It is the state where the soul becomes completely free from all karmas and from the cycle of birth and death (samsar).
• In moksha the soul has:

- Infinite knowledge (anant jnan) - Infinite perception (anant darshan) - Infinite bliss (anant sukh) - Infinite energy (anant virya)

• After attaining moksha, the soul rises to the top of the universe, called Siddha-shila, and never takes birth again.

2. What is Siddha?

• Siddha = Liberated soul.
• It is the soul who has already attained moksha.
• So:

- “Moksha” is the state of liberation. - “Siddha” is the soul in that liberated state.

Example:

• When Mahavir Bhagwan left his body and became liberated,

- the event/state is called moksha / nirvana, - Mahavir’s soul after that is called a Siddha.

3. Simple difference

• Moksha – the final goal / state (liberation).
• Siddha – the being (soul) who has reached that goal.

So, every Siddha has moksha, and moksha is the condition in which a soul becomes Siddha.
