Can jains do blowjob sex?
In Jain dharma, the question is not “which type of sex is OK,” but “does this increase or decrease passions and attachment?”
Very simply:
- For monks / nuns (sadhu–sadhvi):
- Absolutely no sexual activity at all – not by body, speech, or even thought. - So any kind of sexual act, including oral sex, is completely forbidden.
- For lay Jains (householders):
- The vow is brahmacharya anuvrat – sex only with one’s own lawful spouse, with restraint, mainly for family life, not for indulgence. ( jainknowledge.com) - Any sexual behaviour that: - strongly excites passions (kashāy), - treats the partner as an object for pleasure, - becomes an addiction or lustful experiment goes against the spirit of Jain brahmacharya, even if technically with the spouse.
- Where does oral sex (blowjob) fit?
- It is purely pleasure‑oriented, highly stimulating, and usually done only for sensual enjoyment, not for reproduction or simple married life. - From a Jain point of view, this intensifies rāg (attachment) and kām (lust), which means more bondage of karma, not spiritual progress. - Therefore, it is not in line with Jain ideals of brahmacharya, even for married people.
- Core Jain view:
- Jain ethics always move from more indulgence → less indulgence → full celibacy. - The ideal is to reduce sexual excitement step by step, not invent new forms of it. - So a sincere Jain aiming at dharma and inner purity should avoid acts like oral sex, even within marriage, and gradually simplify sexual life.
